The formal process has begun
Anthropic filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 26 October for a proposed initial public offering. It intends to list Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol ANT. The EDGAR record confirms the filing date and acceptance time and provides the complete document set. The registration statement is not yet effective, however: the shares cannot be sold and purchase offers cannot be accepted before that point.
What is known — and what is not
Anthropic has not specified the number of shares to be offered or an expected price range. The S-1 therefore starts a verifiable regulatory process, but it does not guarantee the timing or completion of the IPO. The broader significance for the AI market is that one of its largest laboratories is now describing its business and risks in a public-company format. Investors and enterprise customers should watch the subsequent prospectus amendments rather than an assumed valuation: those filings are where offering terms and updated financial disclosures should appear.
