The scale of Chinese robotics

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published the results of an October 19 press briefing on October 20. The ministry said Chinese companies introduced more than 400 humanoid models and produced over 40,000 machines in the first half of 2026, with full-year output forecast to exceed 100,000.

The ministry also reported testing and deployment across more than 300 scenarios, from warehouse logistics and retail to catering and domestic services.

Test sites and standards

Policy is moving from prototype counts toward repeatable tasks and common rules. The ministry plans to expand real-world training and testing sites, develop solutions for specific operations and issue guidance for a national humanoid-robot standards system.
