Vera Rubin architecture and DSX components
On October 12, NVIDIA said at the Open Compute Project summit that it had contributed key Vera Rubin rack and compute-tray designs to OCP through the MGX architecture. The MGX 1.2 specification covers blind-mate liquid cooling, interoperable interconnects, a 5,000-amp busbar and racks rated up to 250 kW. NVIDIA also released four DSX OS components for network configuration, cluster-readiness testing, rack-level hardware management and bare-metal deployment. Partners separately published specifications for AI-factory facilities and for how large loads should behave during utility-grid disturbances.
Using the open documentation
Server manufacturers and data-centre operators gain shared interfaces for power, cooling, networking and maintenance. The open components can be studied and integrated into their own platforms. Power limits in the specification describe NVIDIA and partners’ design parameters; hardware compatibility is tested in each site implementation.
